Leaking dam
Rocky soil
Enlarging the pond
Design Response
We excavated to a depth of 18’ and enlarged the pond a half acre. We compacted the dam and installed a liner and covered the dam with rip rap outcropping. We built a wetland filter with a low profile waterfall to fit into the landscape naturally.
Result
A pond that will be enjoyed for generations, with lots of family and friends.
private oasis
Client Vision
A private place to swim and relax
Design Challenges
Removing an acre of trees
Leveling the land
The view from the house
Design Response
We selected certain trees to remove while making sure the homeowners had good views from their windows but also leaving enough trees to keep a private atmosphere. The swimming pond has a wetland filter and a large waterfall that faces directly at the house. We incorporated jumping rocks and plenty of unique places to sit and relax.
Result
A stunning private oasis tucked away in the woods, inviting you for a swim.
backyard spa
Client Vision
A striking, cascading waterfall with a dedicated space to cool off and swim during the summer months.
Design Challenges
Building up the soil to height
Building tall waterfall with large outcropping rock
Fluctuating ground water table
Design Response
We built the landscape up to a 12-foot elevation, shaping the terrain to support a dramatic waterfall feature. One-ton-plus boulders were precisely placed using rock grapples and straps, creating a natural, timeless composition accented by concealed nighttime lighting. The pond incorporates a negative edge design with a reservoir for fluctuating groundwater conditions, including under-liner drain tile to manage subsurface water and ensure long-term performance.
Result
A masterpiece you can view from multiple windows, with swimming access only steps away.
